Handmade Journals

Posted by admin | Uncategorized | Wednesday 26 September 2007 11:35 am

One of my fellow MomPack members runs a website providing an assortment of handmade gift items, including figures made from copper wire called Whirlievers.

Her company is appropriately named WhimzyDoodles. An item that would make a really nice, unique holiday gift for someone in your life who keeps a diary or likes to journal is the hand-bound journal. Each one is hand-crafted so no two are exactly alike. The journal includes 52 weeks of calendar pages and inspirational messages. You also get a Whirliever of your choice on a ribbon to use as a bookmark. The journals are available in six different colors to suit anyone’s tastes. The price is a modest $30, so visit WhimzyDoodles today and get a head start on your holiday shopping.

Holiday Gift Wish Lists

If you and your friends and family have a hard time trying to decide what gifts to buy each other each holiday season, Forget Me Never Solutions has tools you can use to eliminate the guesswork. You can use the Free Friends and Family Wish List to create your gift lists and then have them emailed out to the whole family.

No more last minute phone calls to your sister living on the other side of the country to figure out what your three little nephews want for Christmas.

I don’t know how easy it will be to get all your friends and family on board with this idea, but it might be worth a go if you’re looking to ease the stress of holiday shopping.

Hair Care

Posted by admin | Uncategorized | Wednesday 12 September 2007 3:28 pm

This weekend when I changed my hair color from summer’s strawberry blond to a darker light auburn, I was thinking about all the products I buy for my hair. I considered lining them up here on my desk to review, but realized I’d run out of space in a hurry.

I have what I call “crazy lady hair.” It’s more than wavy but not a tight curl. It expands in high humidity and frizzes to the point I always have a lovely halo. I’ve been to very, very few hairdressers who could figure out how to deal with it. So, I’m always buying the latest and greatest products in a desperate effort to keep it under control.

My favorite right now is Sunsilk’s Anti-poof 24/7 creme. It does a decent job of keeping my hair under control and doesn’t leave it feeling greasy. Most days that’s all I use. If I’m actually going to style my hair, I add on Aussie’s Sydney Smooth Tizz no Frizz Gel. Unlike a lot of gels, it doesn’t leave my hair feeling stiff. If I want a little more shine, I currently like Garnier Fructis Style’s Brilliantine Shine Glossing Spray – I just wish it came in an aerosol instead of a pump. To top it all off, I’m totally addicted to Aussie’s Mega Hair Spray. You get a true flexible hold and it smells fantastic. Could a girl put more stuff on her hair?

Since I color my hair, I want to make sure it doesn’t get dried out. I really like the Radiant Red shampoo and conditioner from John Frieda. And for deep conditioning I use the Noevir Tokara Sea Mineral Deep Conditioner. It does not weigh my hair down, and in the winter I have even used it everyday to combat the effects of indoor heating and dry cold air.

I’d love to hear your hair care routines, leave a comment or drop me an email.

Holiday Gift Collection

The Noevir Holiday Gift Collection is now available. My personal recommendations are the Tokara Soap Collection, the Tokara Gift Set, the Anti-Aging Gift Set, the For Him Gift Set, and the Eau de Toillete Cocofille.

Eybrows – again

I know I talked about eyebrows not that long ago, but apparently dark eyebrows are “in” for fall. I don’t know that I want dark eyebrows, they would look a little odd with my light hair; but I do like defined brows on me and any woman who wants to look well-groomed but not heavily made-up.

My September issue of Lucky magazine, lists some interesting tools for getting your eyebrows just right. One item is a clear wax eyebrow pencil from Anastasia that can be used to keep the hairs in place. Obviously, if you need more color on your brows you’ll have to use another pencil or powder for that and then use this pencil. For color I recommend Noevir’s new Eyebrow Compact that has three shades so you can define your brows as much or as little as you like.
